ONGOING GIGS
Every Thursday night in Memphis from 8 pm - midnight, I host the Pickin' Party at Kudzu's, where you never know who will show and how long we will go. This is an informal jam with friends -- newcomers and closet songwriters are always welcome to hang out and listen or join in the Pickin'. The set up is like an old-fashioned Round-Robin, and original music is encouraged but covers are ok too. Past traveling performers have included Jamie Lee Bradford from Austin, TX, Everett Brown and Jim Photoglo from Nashville, Gigi from North Carolinia, Doug Cook from Orlando, Florida and a bunch of other folks. Some of the regualrs include Bob and Susie Salley, Kenny Busick, Mark Autry, Maria Spence, John Fitzgerald, Cowboy Bob and Tommy Jones. Every Sunday afternoon in Memphis, I host "Sessions" at Dan McGuinness Pub at Peabody Place in downtown Memphis. From 3 - 6 pm we play everything from old honky tonk to original music, in an informal setting. Much like the Pickin' Party, but somewhat reserved since it is on a Sunday afterall. This is an Irish Pub, and you never know when a bag pipe will bless us, and kids of all ages often like to sing along. Kenny Busicks subs for me when I am out of town.
